GAMSCA was established in 2010 by members of the Scottish Gambian community, many of whom have settled in Glasgow. We are entirely volunteer-led, operating from fundraising and small charity grant awards.
We are a registered charity (SC044249) run by a small voluntary board with a broad range of organisational experience from business and professional sectors.
Our Mission
Gambian and Friends In Scotland Community Association (GAMSCA) works towards the development and integration of the Gambian and other Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities in Glasgow and throughout Scotland.
Our main objectives include providing support to families, young children, and young people aged 12 to 25 within these communities.
Our Vision
We are dedicated to promoting integration, development, and cultural enrichment within the Gambian and BME communities, with a special focus on assisting families facing various challenges such as poverty and trauma.
Our ultimate aim is to foster a stronger, more connected community for all individuals and families.
Our History
We have a long history of developing events for the Gambian and other BME communities designed around sustaining our communities, developing mutual support, and promoting and encouraging Gambian cultural heritage and sharing this across Scotland’s diverse communities.
